Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov was summoned to Azerbaijan’s foreign office on Wednesday – a predictable step on official Baku’s part given the context.
The reason behind the step is that two Artsakh officials – Minister of Culture, Youth and Tourism Lernik Hovhannisyan and FM Masis Mailyan – recently visited Moscow and held meetings with experts on different fields.
The news caused the Azerbaijani Internet users’ concern, with epithets like “illegal regime” and “Armenia-occupied” being hurled, and a diplomatic step followed.
But the problem is that Mr Mailyan and Mr Hovhanisyan actually paid private visits to Moscow.
So let us regard it as an attempt to drive a wedge between Armenia and Russia.
