An Italy-Armenia match – the last match of UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying Group J – took place in Palermo last night.
The match, which was hardly important as a competitive event, will, regrettably, be recorded in history: the Armenian team suffered the most humiliating defeat – 1-9 – in its history, thereby setting a notorious record. Its co-author is Abraham Khashmanyan, the newly appointed head coach of the Armenia football team.
The Armenian team went down to the most crushing defeats in 1997 – in the matches against Chile (0-7) and Georgia (0-7).
Moreover, this is the Italian team’s tenth successive victory – a record set by the gli Azzurri (the Blues).
As to the attacks, the Armenian team too more shots on Italy’s goal as compared with the match against Greece (13 vs 7). Two of the four goals conceded by the Italian team during the tournament were scored by the Armenian team. We’d better remain silent about the defense.
According to the SofaScore rankings, Nicolò Zaniolo is the best player, Aram Hayrapetyan is the worst.
