Armenia’s former deputy prosecutor general Gagik Jhangiryan demands invalidation of two orders by the ex-president Robert Kocharyan of February 23, 2008.
First, the president’s decree relieving Jhangiryan of the post of deputy prosecutor general. Secondly, the decree stripping him of the title of counsellor of state, first class.
The petition had been submitted by the then prosecutor general Aghvan Hovsepyan, who pointed out a gross violation of the RA Law on the Prosecutor’s Office, which prohibits prosecutors’ political activities.
On February 23, 2008, Jhangiryan spoke at a rally of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
Recently, the RA Court of Cassation acquitted Mr Jhangiryan.
