RUSSIAN-ARMENIAN CHEMIST YURI OGANESYAN DEMIDOV PRIZE LAUREATE

The renowned Russian-Armenian chemist Yuri Oganesyan is a Demidov Prize laureate now.

He has been awarded for “an outstanding contribution to discovering new chemical elements.” And so great is the scientist’s contribution is that the 118th element on Mendeleev periodic table was named “oganeson” in 2016.

The Demidov Prize is awarded for outstanding achievements in natural sciences and humanities. The prize includes a medal, a diploma and RUB 1,000,000 ($15,550).
