Syria’s Armenian community has always been considered among the closest-knit components of the millions-strong Armenian Diaspora that has preserved its national identity.
But Syrian President Bashar all-Assad himself spoke of Armenians a few days ago. In an interview he shared his impressions and told about his attitude to Armenians formed over the years.
The hard and severe man disliked by half of the world turns out to be a fan of Armenian weddings and tables. When young, he used to enjoy such evening parties. He was most of all impressed by patriotic songs which feature all Armenian gatherings.
