Hovhannes Baghramyan was born in the village of Çardaqlı,a village that gave the world two marshals, 12 generals, seven heroes of the Soviet Union. He joined the ranks during World War I and fought against Turks for the First Armenian Republic’s right to existence.
The great commander’s war rose during World War II. He was promoted form Colonel to General and, after war, to Marshal of the USSR.
Hovhannes Baghramyan is remembered in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and in the Baltic States.
Residents of Yerevan can travel to the Marshal Baghramyan underground station, go out into Marshal Baghramyan avenue and see a monument to Marshal Baghramyan.
