On Unity Day (also called Day of People’s Unity or National Unity Day), marked on November 4, the unveiling ceremony of the “Unity of Spirit” sculpture was held in Armavir, Russia.
The sculpture is a symbol of unity of the Russians, Armenians and all the local ethnicities. It is a white-gray granite sculpture of a Russian mother and an Armenian mother in national costumes reading the Bible under the cover of the cross.
The sculpture created on the initiative of Armavir’s Armenian community will serve as one more ornament to the city.
The author of Unity of Spirit is the Armenian sculptor Smbat Shahinyan. The sculpture is also a symbol of one faith of the Armenian and Russian peoples.
